Gustavo Monteiro (Porto, 1992) is a dancer, choreographer and producer. He completed his professional training at the SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance) in 2014 and studied ‘Management / Production of Performing Arts’ at Forum Dança in Lisbon in 2017.
As a professional dancer, he worked with choreographers, composers and visual artists such as Michikazu Matsune, Martin Nachbar, Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea, Helder Seabra, Marco da Silva Ferreira, Tiago Rodrigues / Companhia Instável, Compagnie Thor - Thierry Smits, Joclécio Azevedo, among others.
As a choreographer, he created "Looking for the face I had before the world was made", "Unsettling Green" and "Persona", in collaboration with Francesca Perrucci. These works were presented in the context of festivals and in spaces such as: Teatro Municipal do Porto - Rivoli. Campo Alegre, International Festival of Contemporary Dance of Mexico, PRISMA - International Festival of Contemporary Dance of Panama, 25th Fortnight of Dance of Almada - International Dance Festival, Interlaced - Contemporary Dance Festival, RollOut Dance Film Festival, Dance Bridges Festival, Movimiento en Movimiento - 6th International Danza Festival for the Patalla, the performance bar, It's Liquid Art Show, etc.
He is co-founder and current director of 'Sekoia - Artes Performativas', a structure based in Porto of production, diffusion, research and development, creation and programming in the field of contemporary dance, as well as other performing, visual, literary and cinematographic arts .
As a producer, he collaborated with Festival DDD - Dias da Dança, 2018 and 2019, in the development and production of “DDD Pro”, a contemporary dance training program for professional and training dancers. Initially, this initiative had two previous editions, 2016 and 2017, in collaboration with Companhia Instável. He produces his own artistic works and cultural events as well as gives production assistance to projects and cultural events developed by artists associated with “Sekoia - Artes Performativas”.
